“The average dynamic load factor from Western Europe to selected US airports dropped by 5 percentage points over the past four weeks, reaching 72% in the week ending 13 April, as airlines adjust to their summer schedules. Dynamic load factor is Xeneta’s measurement of capacity utilization based on volume and weight of cargo flown alongside available capacity.
However, the inbound Miami (MIA) market bucked the trend, with its dynamic load factor rising by 4 percentage points to 83%—a level typically signaling a seller’s market.
According to the US International Trade Administration, the number of air travelers from Western Europe to the US is down 17% year-over-year in March amid Trump tariffs. Fewer passengers mean less baggage, which translates into more available space for cargo in passenger aircraft holds. However, a sustained decline in passenger numbers could force airlines to reduce flight frequencies, which would ultimately decrease overall cargo capacity and leave a question mark to the corridor’s air freight yields.”
