The air cargo peak season is fast approaching, but the Transatlantic market offers mixed signals. Europe to US air cargo spot rates remain one of the few major corridors still exceeding last year’s levels, reaching USD 1.87 per kg in the week ending 5 October.
Yet the strength in pricing has not been matched by demand. After two rounds of frontloading triggered by shifting US tariff deadlines, volumes have lagged behind last year’s since early August, with momentum fading further in early October.
All this points towards a subdued peak season—one unlikely to recapture the buoyancy of last year’s.
