Air cargo spot rates from India to Western Europe averaged USD 2.35 per kg in the week ending 10 August, unchanged since May. They remain more than 75% above their levels before the Red Sea disruption of 2023.
A fresh escalation by Houthis—who have vowed to widen attacks in the region—threatens to further undermine the reliability of ocean container shipping. That is likely to keep air freight rates along the corridor afloat for the foreseeable future.
