The average dynamic load factor from Western Europe to selected US airports rose by 8 percentage points to 68% in the week ending 29 September. This increase occurred as airlines began adjusting their flight schedules for winter. Dynamic load factor is Xeneta’s measurement of capacity utilization based on volume and weight of cargo flown alongside available capacity.

The inbound Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) market topped the chart, with its cargo load factor hitting 88% — a 13-percentage point increase from four weeks prior. Chicago O’Hare (ORD) and Miami (MIA) followed closely at 83% each, with MIA showing the largest increase of 17 percentage points over the same period.

Looking ahead, the transatlantic market is likely to come under severe upward pressure if US East and Gulf Coast port strikes are not resolved quickly.
