From 9 October 2025, the EU’s Verification of Payee (VoP) regulation takes effect. From this date, all SEPA payments made within the EEA will require that the beneficiary’s name in the transaction instructions accurately matches the name associated with the IBAN of the beneficiary’s bank. As this is a measure designed to prevent fraud, banks must take a zero-tolerance approach in applying this regulation.
