Op 3 juni is Geert Wilders (PVV) samen met zijn bewindslieden opgestapt. Het Kabinet Schoof is daarmee gevallen. De bewindslieden van VVD, NSC en BBB gaan wel demissionair door. Nieuwe verkiezingen volgen.
Dit is een pijnlijke conclusie omdat visionair politiek leiderschap op dit moment zeer belangrijk is.
De luchtvrachtsector zoekt al jaren duidelijkheid over het aantal slots op Schiphol. Vanwege een tekort aan slots voor vrachtvliegtuigen staat de luchtvrachthub Schiphol onder grote druk.
Dit schaadt de netwerkkwaliteit van Schiphol en het investeringsklimaat voor bedrijven in Nederland met een internationale waardeketen.
Voor bedrijven in de luchtvrachtsector en luchtvrachtvervoerders is duidelijkheid en stabiliteit zeer belangrijk. Wereldwijde logistieke processen zijn immers al ingewikkeld genoeg.
De val van de regeringscoalitie zorgt nu voor verdere onrust en onzekerheid over de krimp van Schiphol. We vrezen dat belangrijke logistieke spelers en bedrijven in Nederland met een internationale waardeketen hun eigen keuzes zullen gaan maken: investeringen in Nederland stopzetten, Nederland vermijden en specifiek voor vrachtvliegtuigen: uitwijken naar luchthavens net over de grens.
Daarom roepen wij Nederlandse politici op om snel een nieuw kabinet te vormen dat over ‘de Nederlandse dijken’ durft te kijken en met alle maatschappelijke partijen wil samenwerken om echte oplossingen te vinden. Het tijdperk van oppervlakkige oplossingen heeft lang genoeg geduurd. Echte toekomstgerichte keuzes moeten nu worden gemaakt. Dat is niet eenvoudig… maar wel noodzakelijk.
Air Cargo Netherlands blijft zich zéker ook in de komende belangrijke periode krachtig inzetten voor de belangen van de luchtvrachtketen.

On June 3, Geert Wilders (PVV) and his ministers resigned. The Schoof cabinet fell. The ministers of VVD, NSC and BBB will continue as caretaker ministers. New elections will follow.
This is a painful conclusion because visionary political leadership is very important right now.
The air freight sector has been seeking clarity for years regarding the number of slots at Schiphol. Due to a shortage of slots for full freighters, the air freight ecosystem at our national airport is under significant pressure. This harms Schiphol’s network quality and the investment climate for companies based in the Netherlands with an international value chain.
For companies in the air freight chain and air cargo shippers, clarity and stability are very important. Global logistics processes are already complicated enough.
The fall of the government coalition now leads to further unrest and uncertainty about Schiphol’s reduction plans. We fear that key logistics players and companies based in the Netherlands with an international value chain will start making their own decisions: halting investments, avoiding the Netherlands, and in the case of cargo planes, shifting to airports just across the border.
That is why we call on Dutch politicians to swiftly form a new government that dares to look beyond ‘the Dutch dikes’ and wants to work with all societal parties to find real solutions. The era of superficial fixes has lasted long enough. True future-oriented choices must now be made. And this is not easy… but very necessary.
Air Cargo Netherlands will continue to strongly defend the interests of air freight in the important period ahead.
