Since October 2023, the shipments destined for the Netherlands have seen an average year-on-year increase of about 8%. This follows a four-month consecutive decline from June to September 2023, during which demand dropped by an average of 5% year-on-year.
The positive growth is especially notable in demand from Asia and the Middle East due to disruptions in the Red Sea. Additionally, this increase could be partly attributed to the lower base recorded during the same months in 2023, when Northeast Asian countries were still recovering from Covid lockdowns. Moreover, the increased general cargo demand from the US also contributed to this growth.
