Xeneta for ACN: The gap between Bangladesh and India cargo rates to Western Europe widened

Air cargo spot rates from Bangladesh to Western Europe have reached their highest level in more than two and a half years due to political unrest disrupting air cargo operations.

In the week ending 18 August, spot rates soared to USD 5.36 per kg, a 178% increase from the previous year. This surge widened the gap between outbound rates from Bangladesh and India to Western Europe, with India’s rates standing at USD 3.08 per kg in the same week. This disparity could prompt some shippers to reroute their cargo and truck it to India—a strategy observed earlier this year during the peak of the Red Sea crisis.
