IATA: At a time when Europe and the EU constantly voice their ambition to enhance the region’s competitiveness as prompted by the Draghi report, we are disappointed with the latest outcome regarding the 478,000 annual flight cap at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport (Royal Schiphol Group) in TheNetherlands. But there is still time for the government to reconsider its plans.
We call on Minister Barry Madlener to halt the flight reductions at Schiphol while the impacts of the significant noise reduction efforts planned by KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and other carriers are correctly evaluated. Those efforts will mean less noise for the local community while preserving choice for consumers and the economic benefits that the Netherlands gains from a thriving hub airport.
