The Asia to Europe air cargo market experienced an unusual surge in cargo demand during the first two months of 2024. The demand was significantly higher than that during the same period in 2023 and surpassed the peak season level observed in November 2023. Despite the boost from e-commerce, this surge can be attributed to a shift from ocean to air transport. According to Sea Intelligence, the reliability of ocean container shipping schedules dropped to a mere 39.4%, the lowest level since October 2022.
