Air Cargo Demand up 3.2% in January | IATA

iata new

January saw a 3.2% YoY increase in demand for global #aircargo and continues the 18-month growth streak. Global capacity (+6.8% vs January 2024) expands faster than demand, leading to lower load factors (-1.5pp).

While this reflects a moderation from 2024’s double-digit peaks, the industry remains resilient, adapting to evolving global trade patterns and market dynamics.

Latin America led the growth with +11.2%, fueled by expanding regional trade. North America-Europe trade followed closely with a +9.7% increase, supported by supply chain adjustments. Despite declines in the Middle East (-8.4%) and Africa (-3.4%) due to regional hurdles, the overall performance remains strong.

With fuel costs easing, industrial production rising (+2.6% in Dec), and supply chains diversifying, 2025 shows opportunities for strategic growth and optimization.
