It’s that time of year again! The export of fresh-cut flowers from Ecuador and Colombia in Latin America, and Kenya in Africa, to Amsterdam drives air cargo demand in the two to three weeks leading up to Valentine’s Day, creating a peak season for these major floral routes. As a result, air cargo spot rates have been rising since late January. However, compared to last year, spot rates from Kenya and Ecuador to Amsterdam in the week ending on 4 February fell below the levels of the previous year for the same period. On the other hand, the outbound Colombian market sees spot rates climbed to a similar level as last year during the same timeframe.
