Spot Rates from Europe to Japan continued to climb last week (March 28 – April 3) reaching levels of EUR 5.65 per kg. This is around 70% higher than in the week preceding the Ukraine crisis. The Spot Share (= amount of chargeable weight being ‘sold’ at a Spot rate) increased to 61%. That is 20% points higher than the Spot share in early February. In other words, the amount of cargo being sold on the short-term market increased by half in a matter of just a few weeks.
