Air cargo volumes from The Netherlands to the United States fell by 19% in the week Oct 26 – Nov 1 versus the preceding week.
All the top 5 US destinations took a hit – New York showed the steepest decline (-28%), while Chicago was the least affected of this group (-13%). Such a decline in the traditional run up to Christmas is unusual. It is not unlikely that this fall in volume is related to the second wave of COVID cases raging through both the United States and The Netherlands. We will report on this market again in a couple of weeks, to find out if it was able to return to the levels before this fall in volumes occurred.
